10 Great Content Creators and Their Charities of Choice – Stonemaier Games

10 Great Content Creators and Their Charities of Choice

Yesterday we launched our annual 2-day charity auction, for which I select 10 amazing content creators in the tabletop gaming community that I want more people to know about and they each choose a charitable organization important to them. Stonemaier Games offers an auction bundle with each creator/charity, then we match each winning bid to double the donation (Fulfillrite also matches the highest bid of all bids).

It’s been less than 24 hours, and the total winning bids have already eclipsed $10,000, meaning that over $20,000 will be going to these important charities. This is also a milestone for the sum total of all of our charity auction donations, as that total will eclipse $100,000 over the last 10 years.

We do this both to share these content creators with the gaming community and to expand joy beyond the tabletops of the world. Beyond the donation, one of the big reasons I do this is to shine the spotlight on growing, underrepresented content creators whose content I genuinely enjoy. You can check out the auction page to learn more about why they selected their charities, and here’s a consolidated list:

I highly recommend checking out those content creators. If you’re compelled to bid, you’re welcome to do so; also, if there are a few content creators you already adore, you can click the thumb on their auction; we’re sending a copy of Wingspan Asia to the creator with the most thumbs, and we’re adding $1 per thumb to their charity of choice.

You can also participate simply by making a donation directly to one of these organizations. We can’t offer a raffle as part of the auction due to lottery laws, though one item in the bundle–the “golden” egg tokens–gave me an idea for future years (and perhaps for the golden eggs in the future on our webstore): We could create a special, small item on our webstore during the charity auction, and all profits for those who order the item during the auction will be evenly divided among the 10 charities.

Coincidentally, this year’s auction coincides with Mental Illness Awareness Week, which focuses on removing stigmas surrounding mental illness, whether it’s anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, or other forms of mental illness. Any form of mental illness–no matter the type of scope–deserves care, compassion, and empathy. I view this as a call to lift others up, which is what I try to do in the charity auction.

I truly hope that you connect with one or more of these content creators (or creators from past auctions). Let me know your new favorite in the comments below!

  1. It seems a big part of Stonemaier’s brand has been inclusivity and avoiding exclusive products and promos.

Is there any chance we’ll see the metal golden eggs in circulation without having to pay $1000 to get them?

I definitely would buy them on the webstore if it was an option!

    1. Definitely! We haven’t said anything about the golden eggs being exclusive to this auction. Here’s what I say in the post: “one item in the bundle–the “golden” egg tokens–gave me an idea for future years (and perhaps for the golden eggs in the future on our webstore): We could create a special, small item on our webstore during the charity auction, and all profits for those who order the item during the auction will be evenly divided among the 10 charities.”

      1. Awesome! I didn’t mean to imply that you were making them exclusive. I did get that vibe from “1 pack of golden metal Wingspan eggs created specifically for this charity auction” but delighted to hear that it will be available generally in the store at some point!
