3 Crowdfunding Videos About Empathy, Final Week Prep, and Retailers

Today I have a few videos to share from my Dice Tower crowdfunding series. These short videos summarize the key points from my blog about the power of practicing empathy, a checklist of things to do the week before your project launches, and what retailers want from your campaign.

You can find the previous videos on this website or mixed in with my game design videos on YouTube.

What ideas in these videos do you agree or disagree with? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

If you gain value from the 100 articles Jamey publishes on his blog each year, please consider championing this content!

  1. Funny, I missed this blog post from the day before my launch. Mostly I managed to get all this from your checklist, except one small typo in the items section. Insignificant, but I wish I had managed to follow that last kernel of launch week advice.

Definitely wish I had more retailer contact before launch, but I working with them now.

  2. Hey Jamey, I’ve read your book and have been going through all the great content on your blog. I was wondering if you knew of more examples of Humble Campaigns? I’d like to do some research on them. Thanks!

  3. To Jamey:
Re your third point in the Empathy Video about not replying defensively to critical comments:
I agree wholeheartedly with your point; but I personally would have to think twice (or more) about responding like I would to those close to me. There, wrapped in the security of the knowledge that my humor will be understood, I’m likely to let it loose unedited—probably not a good idea with relative strangers! (No 😇 lives here.)

A wild guess re KS Campaigns with no profile picture of game creator doing better than those with profile pictures: Might the better known creators omit their pictures based on the (conscious or unconscious) belief that potential backers already know them and their work? So it’s one of those correlations not qualfying as cause and effect.
