You have new visitors! This expansion for Viticulture provides you with a new set of 80 visitors cards, which focus less on victory points and more on the wine business itself. These cards have their own unique backs, as they must be played without other visitor cards from Viticulture, Tuscany, and Moor Visitors.

  • 40 summer visitor cards
  • 40 winter visitor cards

Visit from the Rhine Valley is available from retailers. MSRP is $20, and the SKU is STM108.

  • Why do these cards have different backs? The Rhine Wine visitor cards are designed to be their own unique set, not a combined set to be shuffled together with existing cards. Both sets of cards are viable to play with, and they each offer different experiences (one geared more towards VP; the other focused more on the wine business. If they’re all combined together, you will likely create an imbalance, as some people might end up drawing VP cards and others may draw the wine business cards.

  • 4 of the cards can only be used with Tuscany.
  • 6 of the cards are the same as existing cards (banker, contractor, craftsman, harvest expert, zymologist, and uncertified oenologist)

  1. Hi Jamey,

Why is the Structure Reorganizer Visitor restricted for play with Tuscany? Is it because it would be too powerful in the base game?

  2. Hi Jamie, can I ask a couple of really basic questions about the expansions?

    1. Once you have shuffled the Moor Visitors into the main Viticulture deck, is there a way to easily separate the decks again?

    2. Is the Rhine Visitors compatible with both Viticulture and Tuscany Essential Editions?

      1. Thanks Wendy, on point 1 I must have read conflicting advice on BGG. I thought the Moor pack was to COMBINE with the Viticulture EE deck, not to replace it. I understand, however, that Rhine IS a replacement deck.

This seems to make sense given that there are 76 visitors in VEE and only 40 in MV. The Moor Visitors are also different from those in the base game aren’t they? There is one exception to this, I think – the Promoter. Not sure of the rationale for having two of these. I also have a Harvest machine structure which, as far as I can see is for adding to the TEE expansion.

Given that its difficult to see how the two decks (VEE and MV) are different, I presume the designers didn’t mean for you to be able to separate Moor out from VEE once you’d shuffled them in. The only difference I can see is that the Moor pack has a purplish tinge on the edges when viewing the deck from the side.

        1. It’s correct that Moor Visitors combines with Viticulture EE cards, while Rhine Valley is designed to be used on its own. Moor Visitors contains a replacement card for the Promoter (which isn’t really needed for Viticulture EE), as well as 40 unique cards.

  3. Hi Jamey,

In this expansion there are two docents (one in summer visitors pack, the other-in winter visitors), is this correct?

    1. Hi Fabio, we love working with Ghenos Games for the Italian versions of many of our games. I’m not sure what their plans are for Rhine Valley, but feel free to tell them you want it!

      1. I asked Ghenos Games via email a couple of months ago as I was interested as well. They said it’s an expansion thought for Germany (but… is that really the case Jamey?) and they don’t plan to translate it.

  4. Does the Winter Visitor Theologian mean you can harvest eg a 3 red grape and make it a 4 red grape, or is it a 3 red grape and you also have an additional 1 red or white grape?
