The Wine Crate is an organizer box for Viticulture, designed from the inside out to hold all Viticulture components (core game and expansions, even out-of-print modules) in an assortment of 5 custom plastic inserts and accompanying lids. It fits sleeved cards (recommend 60-micron thickness), and it is designed to facilitate quick setup via the player-token trays.

The Wine Crate organizer box does not include the Viticulture core game or any gameplay content. It’s big, but it’s still portable, and it fits nicely onto a Kallax shelf.

The Wine Crate includes:

  • 1 dual-layered, individually numbered cardboard box (272x298x186mm, 2.3 kg)
  • 5 custom plastic inserts and lids (the trays will hold sleeved cards)

In its 5 custom plastic inserts and the insert included with Viticulture World, the Wine Crate can hold:

  • all Viticulture core game components (any version)
  • all Tuscany components (either version, including out-of-print modules)
  • all custom metal lira coins
  • all Moor Visitors cards
  • all Visit from the Rhine Valley cards
  • all Viticulture World components
  • all cards from the game and expansions, sleeved or unsleeved

Release Details: The Wine Crate became available for preorder from Stonemaier Games on June 1, 2022, followed within a few weeks by preorder fulfillment from fulfillment centers in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. The Wine Crate will not be available from retailers. Localization partners Korea Board Games, Matagot, DeltaVision, Ghenos, and Maldito are offering the Wine Crate too.

Update: The Wine Crate is sold out in the US for now, and we honestly don’t know when we’ll make more, but we’re looking at 2023 at the earliest. The reprint will most likely not include Viticulture World (which is still available by itself here). If you want the Wine Crate, please sign up for a back in stock notification and/or order from Meeplesource while supplies last.

Product Details: The SKU is STM111. For backers of the 2014 Kickstarter campaign who have the 2014 Collector’s Edition crate box, the Wine Crate is somewhat similar and redundant, with the one major difference being that the Wine Crate is designed to also fit the new Viticulture World expansion (it won’t fit in the original Collector’s Edition box).

FAQ

Can I order the Wine Crate without Viticulture World?

The individually numbered Wine Crate with Viticulture World inside will be available in early June as part of the Viticulture World preorder. If you don’t want the Wine Crate, you can just get the expansion by itself. And if you want the Wine Crate without the expansion…well, we don’t offer that option yet, but maybe in 2023 or 2024 if freight shipping improves.

Will the Wine Crate fit everything made for Viticulture? All editions, sleeved cards, and old/out-of-print content? What about third-party accessories?

Yes. We designed the Wine Crate not just to fit all Viticulture content, but also to organize it. It also fits sleeved cards. We can’t guarantee that it will hold all third-party accessories, as they’re made completely independent of Stonemaier Games. It also does not fit the boxes for other Viticulture products.

Can I buy all Viticulture stuff all at once?

Absolutely! All Viticulture products are available on our webstore (and will soon be joined by Viticulture World), so you can buy anything and everything you’re interested in. All Viticulture products will be on sale during the preorder period, and you’ll receive an additional 20% discount if you’re a Stonemaier Champion. If you’re curious about the numerous reasons why we don’t offer a big box version of all Viticulture products, please read this.

Will the Wine Crate only be available from Stonemaier Games webstores or can I buy it from my preferred retailer?

The first print run of the Wine Crate–which contains Viticulture World–will only be available directly from Stonemaier Games (our fulfillment centers are in the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe). If freight shipping costs decrease, we will consider making Wine Crates without Viticulture World and selling them to distributors and retailers in 2023 or 2024.

Can I request a specific number for my individually numbered box (for the Wine Crate)?

Unfortunately not. Your preferred number may not even be at the fulfillment center in your region (they’re randomly distributed to each region, and we don’t know which numbers are in which region). Such requests would require the people at that fulfillment center to take every copy of the game out of every carton to find that number. It would slow shipping down to such a crawl that it would take months to fulfill all orders instead of a few weeks.

  1. Hi,

We purchased the our wine crate and we have been told that the World expansion would fit in the box. I already own all the expansion, but there is no organizer for the World expansion in our box. Is it a mistake, and if not can we order the tray specifically for the coop mode? Thanks.

    1. Francois: The English version of Viticulture World includes the insert; that’s why it isn’t in the Wine Crate. We don’t sell the insert by itself.

  2. I live in Canada. The box is currently out of stock. Would it be best to order from your U.S. website or do you have plans to have more in Canada soon? Thanks.

    1. Hi Robert! We have plans to get more to Canada, but I do have a small buffer quantity not currently listed on the store. If you email me directly at joe@stonemaier.com, I can create an order for you on Tuesday (I’ll be away from my desk on Monday). Thanks for your interest!

      1. Hi Joe, The Canadian website is still out of stock. Do you, by any chance, still have some in your ‘buffer’?

        1. No, the buffer is gone. But if you sign up for a back-in-stock notification, we’ll let you know as soon as they’re available again. :)

          1. Thanks a lot. I already did that, but then I thought I could try my luck with you. You never know until you ask! ;)
Really love this game by the way.
            Have a nice day.

    1. Currently this isn’t a retail product. This is an in-stock product on our webstore, not a preorder (so it’ll be available as long as the product is in stock).

  3. Sorry if this is specified somewhere, but just below the title at the top of the page says “Organizer box for Viticulture and all expansions (includes Viticulture World cooperative expansion)” while the description says “no gameplay content”. Does the wine crate still include the viticulture world expansion or is it now the reprint for only the box? (I am looking to purchase the box only).
    Thank you!

    1. Steve: We currently don’t have any other expansions planned, though for most people there’s plenty of extra room in the Wine Crate (it’s only close to full for those who have all of the modules from the 2014 Tuscany Kickstarter).

  4. This arrived when I was out of town over the weekend. Really nice looking big box but with shipping pretty expensive here in Canada. Look forward to trying this out.

  5. Will you offer the “Wine Crate” for people who have already purchased “Viticulture World”?

    1. We are making a reprint of the Wine Crate without Viticulture World inside for release sometime in 2023.

      1. I’m guessing that, similar to Wingspan’s Nesting Box, future printings will cost appropriately less without the expansion? The Nesting Box is so convenient and well-made that I really want to get my hands on one of these Crates as well. 😁

        1. Robert: Absolutely! How much less largely depends on freight shipping costs (which are currently pretty good).

  6. Is the second Greengully set that came separately (introductory – first game) intended as a replacement for the original one (introductory), or just as an easier alternative for the first game, with the original to be one to use for future games?

    1. It’s an easier alternative for the first game, with the original Greengully to be used for repeated plays. Though the “add a 7th year” card in the promo pack can be added to any continent.

    1. There will! It’ll be ready in 2023 (without Viticulture World inside, so you can get the expansion now if you’re interested). Make sure to sign up for a back-in-stock notification on our webstore.

          1. Hi Jamey. Just to be sure, no empty Viticulture World insert without the game components? What if we bought VW separately?

          2. The plan is for the next printing of the Wine Crate to only have inserts, no gameplay elements at all. It doesn’t need the Viticulture World insert (as it’s included when you buy Viticulture World), just the other inserts.

  7. Would you consider posting the names of the playtesters and proofreaders for Viticulture World on the website? I purchased the wine crate and was disappointed those names weren’t printed on the box where they would normally be. Something to consider for future big boxes that may or may not contain a new expansion as well. Thanks!

    1. While we don’t have playtesters for game boxes, I’ve added images from the side of the Viticulture World box to the end of the sidebar on this page.

      1. I didnt mean playtesters for the box itself, just for the new content inside the box if an expansion was included. Thanks!

  8. It’s 2020 – Insert designs, especially for products that cater to enthusiasts like the Wine Crate does, need to have accomodations for sleeved cards. Period.\

    1. It’s 2022, and indeed, the Wine Crate is designed for sleeved cards, as indicated above.

      1. When it comes to the Viticulture World content tray though, I have to say that the decks barely fit there a lot when sleeved with 90 micron sleeves.
If you use thicker sleeves, a few top card will slide to the bottom of the deck above them, because the indentation in the tray which should keep each deck in its slot is too shallow for sleeves that thick.

      2. I love all the content of Viticulture, Tuscany and Viticulture World. I was really excited when I got the Wine Crate; but I was incredibly sad to discover that not all my sleeved cards (Gamegenic) fit. I was unable to keep either of the Automa decks in the Wine Crate; there was not enough room for the Structure cards in the bottom section as outlined in the image for how to organize the Wine Crate, and the Visit from the Rhine Valley cards had to be kept in their own box. As well as the Viticulture World cards (minus the Automa) barely fit; with cards sliding into other decks. I am grateful for the effort in creating the Wine Crate; I just wish high quality sleeves were taken into consideration when designing items like this (especially if you are going to advertise support for sleeved cards). I don’t understand the point in using 40 micron sleeves; they offer next to no protection and tear super easily.

        1. I’m sorry to hear that, Stephen. We did take high-quality sleeves into consideration. How many microns are your sleeves?

    1. Gary: Viticulture World is a retail product and is available for distributors and retailers worldwide (the retail release date is July 22). The Wine Crate is not a retail product.

  9. Hello Jamey, I just got my “all-in” with the Wine Crate and I am trying to look at the above picture on how to put it all away but the picture is kinda small and there is no way (that I know) to make it bigger.

I eventually just had Chrome scale to 200 so I could see it but it would be nice if you could click on the picture and it either popped up or opened a much larger version in another tab.

    Thank you :)

    1. The embedded image is super high res, and I think zooming is generally the best approach (what you’re describing is something WordPress does not offer). However, I will add a link to a Dropbox version of the same high-res image for anyone who wants to download it.

  10. Just received my Wine Crate with Viticulture World included (maybe should be the other way round?) and delighted with the product. It fits everything and the Rhine Valley Visitor Card box fits neatly on top. Always struggling for good storage solutions (especially for LCGs) and this is perfect and much neater than four boxes! I have organised it a bit differently so I have a tray that has everything for a solo game that can be set on the table but other than that have followed the storage advice. I should probably play the game now….

  11. Received my Wine Crate on Monday, it’s lovely! I have a very nice 3D printed insert I modeled off of the Folded Space insert (so I haven’t published the models for it), and I didn’t want to get rid of it, so I sacrificed a few of the vacuform trays that came with it and was happy to find I could fit everything snugly. Some images are available here: https://imgur.com/a/14GRzAU

  12. Any chance of a reprint of the non-essential edition components/expansions (unique special worker meeples, Arboriculture, Formaggio, etc.)

        1. I believe so? That’s their own thing, so I’m not sure if they’re Tuscany meeples or just nicer meeples for the standard workers.

      1. I’ve been following their site for a few months and they are currently out of stock. ETA continues to get pushed back. It would be nice to order directly through your site.

          1. DJ was surely referring to the formaggio / Arboriculture print and play website, maybe Jamey though they were referring to the MeepleSource components.

  13. I just received my Wine Crate and I thought I would share my experience for any one else who uses premium sleeves 90+ microns).

I have Tuscany EE, the Rhine Valley and Moor Visitor expansions along with Viticulture EE. I am having issues fitting everything. All of my cards are sleeved with Mayday Premium sleeves (90 microns).

I can only get the cards to fit if I move about 6 or so of each of the summer visitor and winter visitor cards into the slot that holds the vine and wine order cards. While they fit, they are extremely tight, too much so for my liking as I fear bending the cards when trying to insert them. I also have to swap around some of the large cards as well (the red/blue cards are too tight to fit within a single divider within the L-shaped insert).

This would make setup a bit cumbersome, having to pull the same type of card from multiple spots. Like James Austin mentioned below, I discovered that my original Viticulture EE box fits inside the Wine Crate with room for the Viticulture World expansion tray (with room to spare). I have the Folded space insert which fits everything else within the original box, so that is how I will store it. Looks like I will also have to recycle the plastic trays, unfortunately. I’m also hoping the premium sleeves fit inside the Viticulture World tray (I haven’t tried sleeving those yet).

I see you responded to a Chris below with a 60-80 micron recommendation; , Jamey; I think that is bang on, and that everything should fit well at 80 microns, as displayed in the packing guide. 90+ microns, and you will likely need to get creative :)

I’m looking forward to trying out the new expansion (as well as the metal coins I ordered along side it!)

    1. Interesting. Thanks for the heads-up. I’m using Arcane Tinmen sleeves, 80 microns, and I’m anxious to get my preorder. I will sleeve everything new upon arrival and report back with my findings

  14. Ordered on the 1st of June, and eagerly awaiting my package. I owned everything for the game but sold it as the solo mode wasn’t interesting enough. However, this new mode looks mighty interesting, excited for my new all-in copy!

  15. I love my beautiful Wine Crate! And my wife – who loves wine, and co-operative games – loves the expansion!

For me, though, the plastic inserts just didn’t work (maybe I don’t have enough expansions….?). I’d certainly agree with Chris Copac that a higher-res illustration of the packing guide – either on the website, or packaged with the Crate – would have been good. But no matter how I arrange it, the plastic trays don’t do as good a job as the Folded Space inserts I’d already got for the base game – in particular, I love the fact that one can just hand a tray to each player with all their components ready to go (and they can then pack their own pieces away for you at game end….). But to my delight, I discover that the Wine Crate is exactly the right size to fit my original Viticulture (Essential Edition) box in whole, keeping my Folded Space inserts, with the expansion packed around it. There’s a little bit of loose space, but not enough that things will rattle around.

I’m recycling the plastic trays; but still a very happy customer!

    1. Just yesterday I realized that I had an even higher-rest image of the insert organization diagram–you may not be able to tell from the website, but if you download it, you can zoom in quite a bit.

  16. Hey guys! So happy to have received my champions order of the wine crate preorder! One thing I did notice was there was no promo pack included in my parcel… was this an error or did I get the wrong impression that the wine crate preorders came with a promo pack? There wasn’t an option for me to add that on to my preorder but so many others seem to have received one in their package. Thanks!

      1. I am not too sure if the replacement cards will ship from within Australia (which is where I live) but will being a Champion expedite the shipping priority? The confirmation email I received indicated a 3-4 week delivery

        1. Yes, we have replacement parts helpers around the world, just as we have fulfillment centers around the world. I’m not sure why it says 3-4 weeks (probably just to set expectations in extreme circumstances), as our helpers usually ship out parts within 1 week. Our replacement parts helpers view all customers as people to help–they don’t classify them as Champion otherwise.

          1. Just so you know, Justin. I’m in Australia and mine came with the replacement cards and promo pack.

  17. Well, Ghenos Games is actually offering the Wine Crate for the Italian market, but it’s just the empty box, for €44.99!! We would have to pay €39.99 on top of that for the expansion!! That’s insane.
At this point I don’t care if I have the game in Italian language, I’ll get the Wine Crate AND World in English at the same price I would only get an empty box.
That’s not the way local publishers would prompt people to buy translated games IMHO 🤨

    1. Marco: I think you’re vastly underestimating how much it costs to make and ship a box like this, especially due to current freight shipping rates.

      1. Don’t get me wrong Jamie: I’m quite aware of the situation and the proibitive shipping costs, especially big boxes. The Treasure Trove box for Too Many Bones doubled in price in their last crowdfunding campaign.
But I also think that you too have to sustain these costs. Why are you able to offer the crate + the game components at €67 (previously €61, less than €49 for Champions) while there’s no way to get the World components in Italian language inside the Wine Crate so the “bundle” would cost €85 (with Viticulture World box being a waste)?
It looks like just a marketing decision which doesn’t save money and creates more waste

        1. It’s just that Ghenos chose to separate the Wine Crate from the expansion so people who just wanted the expansion or the Wine Crate could get exactly what they wanted. That’s our typical method–see the Scythe Legendary Box. It’s only due to the high freight shipping costs that I decided to pack the first run of the Wine Crate with Viticulture World inside.

    2. Just idle curiosity, Jamey, but are there six or seven inserts? There seems to be a slight discrepancy between the brief description above and what’s listed in the longer description.

  18. Is there a price listed anywhere? I made a custom viticulture wine box for a friend. Posted pics on BGG.

  19. Hi Jamey. Any thoughts on how to reduce some of the extra space? I stored my games vertically and I’m worried about things moving around.

    1. I don’t have much extra space in mine, but it depends on what things you own or don’t own for Viticulture. There might even be enough space to keep the filler cardboard in the box (it’s the white corrugated cardboard included in the Wine Crate). You could also keep a Moor Visitors or Rhine Valley box in the Wine Crate as filler.

      1. I was so happy that those two expansions (Moor and Rhine) fit quite niftily at the top!!! They reinforce the whole crate 😄

        1. I hope that there’s enough space in the inserts for Moore Visitors and Rhine expansions sleeved cards because I no longer have the original boxes and if they are needed to store those cards in the Crate, I might be in trouble.

          1. they sit nicely with the other small cards in the plastic insert. no need for the Moore visitors or Rhine boxes.

  20. Is there any chance of getting a higher-res version of the packing guide image shown above? I was honestly surprised there wasn’t anything included in the box itself to show how to pack it.

    1. There isn’t a “right” way to pack it, as people own different versions of Viticulture and Tuscany and different combinations of expansions. You might even pack it differently sleeved vs unsleeved. The image above is the most high-res version I have.

  21. Hi Jamey,

Sorry to bother you, but I’ve noticed a lot of champion level customers have already received their preorders (amazingly quick service by the way!) – but is that mainly a US thing?

I only ask as I’ve preordered the wine crate through the UK and haven’t had any dispatch notice yet – just hoping I haven’t fallen through the cracks!

Thanks and sorry again for bothering you.

    Paul

    1. In the UK there was a little event called the Queen’s Jubilee last week–our UK fulfillment center wasn’t open. :) They’re going to start shipping this week to Champions, but the entire shipping process will take at least 3 weeks.

      1. I did wonder if that might be it 🤣 it just un-nerved me that so many others were already getting theirs, they’re probably in other countries 👍

Thanks for the quick response, and sorry again for bothering you! Really looking forward to playing it 🙂

        Paul

      2. Little event 😆. Yes it has taken over, but it has been so awesome. Can’t wait for the Wine Crate to arrive.

      3. The Queen didn’t attend the whole of the Jubilee festivities… as a Champion, she received her Wine Crate early and was playing Viticulture World!

  22. Hey there, I noticed that having the Wine Crate in my shopping cart adds shipping, even if it would be free. Is that intentional?

    1. Yes, there are certain products for which the free shipping threshold does not apply, and the Wine Crate is one of them.

    1. Essentially when we run out of products to sell. Currently we’re on pace to sell out of the Wine Crate within the next 24 hours in most regions. But we have plenty of copies of Viticulture World to last us a while.

  23. So for others who, like me, own the Tuscany KS slip case version, the slip case is 215mm wide. The Wine Crate is 186mm, so if I have this right then moving everything into the Wine Crate will actually save an inch of shelf space. Does that sound right Jamey? (Btw it’s super impressive how responsive you’ve been here. Thank you!!!)

      1. I’ve mentioned before that the cost of an insert is, especially with container and shipping costs now, going to pay for itself. Both in sales and in space. I have a number of games (Looking at you, Mage Knight) where the box is sometimes three or four times larger than it needs to be because of either no insert (gotta have space for all those irregularly shaped bags) or a bad insert (Mage Knight…).

I know a fair amount of historical data on vacuform insert pricing, but I’d love to hear what more recent prices are vs. shipping half-empty boxes.

        1. Vacuformed insert costs differ widely based on thickness of the insert, the level of detail, if they use a lid, the quantity, and the manufacturer. I can say that in terms of shipping (freight or parcel), the difference between shipping a box with an insert versus an empty box is negligible.

  24. Hi, I’d love to order the Wine Crate and the two Tapestry expansions. The problem is that Plans & Ploys is sold out in the European store, and even though all the desired products are available in the international store, I can’t log into my Champion account in the international store. Thus, it looks like I can’t get my champion discount and order all the wanted items at the moment. I’m pretty sure Plans & Ploys won’t be back in stock before the Wine Crate sale finishes, as P&P sold out earlier today. Also, I live in Norway, which is not part of the EU. Shouldn’t the international store be my «local» store?

    1. Lots of great questions here!

Plans & Ploys: I appreciate the heads up, and we’ll restock our Europe store from the UK.

Champion/Europe: Your account is in the Europe store (it’s our Europe store, not an EU store), not the international store. Norway is in Europe, and we ship throughout Europe from our fulfillment center in the UK.

      1. Thanks for your quick reply! It’s greatly appreciated. I just saw a lot of references to the UK and the EU within the Europe store, but then I’m in the right store, as we’re definitely part of Europe. Do you think there’s any chance for the P&P to get back in stock (at least for ordering purposes) begore the June 4th deadline? Or even better, could I pre-order the Wine Crate now and order the two Tapestry expansions later and ask for everything to ship together?

        1. It’ll take 3-5 weeks for Plans & Ploys to arrive at our European fulfillment center–unfortunately, long after June 4. We can’t delay a shipment, so there are two different approaches you could take:

          1. Order the Wine Crate and the in-stock Tapestry expansion now and order Plans & Ploys later (perhaps by itself or with a future release).

          2. Order everything later when Plans & Ploys arrives (making sure to request a back-in-stock notification for it on the Europe webstore). We’ll still have the Wine Crate in stock then.

          1. Thanks again! I’ll go for no. 1 this time around. You make such amazing, incredible games. Thanks a lot!

  25. I’m very interested in the wine crate and currently don’t own any of the series. I see you mention that you might sell the wine crate separately in a year or two if freight costs reduce. Do you have any plans to offer a big box bundle with the wine crate including the base game and all expansions? This would be particularly appealing to people new to the series like me! Thanks

      1. Thanks Jamey! It’s great to have such a clear answer on this, the blog answered all my questions – no reasons to hold back it seems! :)

  26. This may be a tough question but do you know if any of the third-party wooden inserts/organizers will be compatible? I have the one from GameFit “ Organizer for Viticulture Essential Edition + 2 expansions” (web site link below). Looks like the dimensions for The wine crate are larger than those for the wooden organizer. so I am suspecting there may be a way to make it fit? Thanks!

    1. Since those inserts are designed to fit into the Viticulture box and the Wine Crate is bigger than the Viticulture box, I’m assuming they’ll all fit.

  27. I have the German version of the base game and all the expansions. Will the wine crate only be available in English? It feels like I need to order it here, and then order the German version of Viticulture World later on?

    1. The Wine Crate itself is language independent; you’ll need to ask Feuerland if they will be offering the Wine Crate with (or without) the German version of the expansion.

  28. any idea how long the pre-order will be open?….the first of the month doesn’t leave a lot of funds available after rent. if i miss the the preorder, will i still be able to get the champion price on the next run?

    1. You always get the 20% Champion discount on everything you order from us. The special preorder pricing only lasts through June 4, but we should continue to have stock after that at a slightly higher price.

  29. Looks like you left enough room for more expansions. Or maybe this was one of the two games you hinted at giving a special edition reprint and now you have a little extra big box space for all of it.

    1. Libertalia was the special edition of an older game–we’re definitely not doing that for Viticulture. There’s a little bit of extra space in the Wine Crate, but that’s more for people who have third-party stuff to add to the box.

  30. Jamey – I apologize in advance for a ‘dumb’ question, but I just want to double-check before hopefully pulling the trigger on the new Wine Crate when you release it. I have the original Viticulture and Tuscany editions (not the Essential Editions). Is the Wine Crate designed to work well with these originals as well?

    1. Steve: It is indeed! Just to help the clarity on the above page, what could I add to the first paragraph that would make it clearer that the Wine Crate is designed to hold anything and everything we’ve ever made for Viticulture?

“The Wine Crate is an organizer box for Viticulture, designed from the inside out to hold all Viticulture components (core game and expansions, even out-of-print modules) in an assortment of 7 custom plastic inserts and accompanying lids. It fits sleeved cards, and it is designed to facilitate quick setup via the player-token trays.”

      1. Probably nothing to add (just my being over cautious). But in case there are others like me (grin), maybe add a single additional sentence like “That includes the original editions of Viticulture and Tuscany as well as both Essential Editions.”

        1. Thanks! I went ahead and added a bulleted list to the page that should cover it. Feel free to refresh and check it out to see if it’s clear.

  31. Is it safe to assume the wine crate will hold all Viticulture EE content, including Rhine & Moors expansions?

    1. You don’t even need to assume it–that’s exactly what we say on this page! :)

“The Wine Crate is an organizer box for Viticulture, designed from the inside out to hold all Viticulture components (core game and expansions, even out-of-print modules) in an assortment of 7 custom plastic inserts and accompanying lids.”

  32. Hi Jamey, I’m planning on getting the Wine Crate; however, I really like the box art by Andrew Bosley. For those who want one, is it possible to get an empty Viticulture World box along with the Wine Crate, or some form of physical representation of Andrew’s cover art for the expansion? Thanks!

    1. Jerry: Viticulture World is full of Andrew Bosley’s art, so you’ll get plenty of it if you buy the Wine Crate. Every single Viticulture World box is in shrinkwrap with all Viticulture World components inside of it, so selling just the box is the equivalent of selling the full expansion. You’re welcome to buy both the Wine Crate (which includes Viticulture World without the box) and Viticulture World if that’s important to you. :)

      1. Thanks for the suggestion, Jamey. Will we be able to download the cover art from the expansion to use as digital wallpaper? :)

  33. Hi Jamey, the design looks great! Really liking the inclusion of the organizer inserts.

Is there a maximum recommended sleeve thickness for all the cards (World, EE, and expansions) to fit within the inserts as intended?

    Thanks in advance!
    -Chris

    1. Chris: There’s a lot of modular space for various cards, with all slots designed for all dimensions of sleeved cards. I think you’re safe going with 60-80 micron sleeves.

  34. Does the Wine Crate include the name of the playtesters printed anywhere (specifically the solo playtesters)? …..asking for a friend … :)

    1. Drew: Great question. The Wine Crate does not include playtester names on the sides of the box (but the Viticulture World box does).

  35. I’m really torn. This looks like an excellent product, but I’ve been planning for a while now to build my own deluxe Viticulture box out of an actual wine case.

    1. I think you should do it! Please post phots of what you create in the Viticulture FB group–I want to see this wine case.

  36. Hello! Very excited for Viticulture World! Question: will the metal coins (through meeple source) fit into the Wine Box easily? I know you can’t speak for all 3rd party components, but I thought this might be a common one many people have. Thanks!

On a side note – great job handing the challenging situation with the SA deck of cards. It is another example why Stonemaier is the best publisher in the business. You certainly are building customer loyalty with the way that you handle yourself as a company.

  37. Is the box the same footprint as standard boxes like Winsgpan and Libertalia, but double the height? Also, will the big box for Wingspan be the same size?

  38. Hi currently live and work in Asia. i plan on pre-ordering Viticulture World as soon as it is available. I just wanted to check that I can also get the wine crate as well? I ask because currently only USA, UK and Australia are mentioned in pre-order information in regards the Wine Crate.

  39. I do not own Viticulture physically (bought the steam app), but I enjoyed it a lot, and would like to own a physical copy. Do you foresee some kind of big box bundle for everything? Or should I just buy it all from the store separately.

    1. Thanks! All Viticulture products are available on our webstore (and will soon be joined by Viticulture World), so you can buy anything and everything you’re interested in. All Viticulture products will be on sale during the preorder period, and you’ll receive an additional 20% discount if you’re a Stonemaier Champion.

  40. Hi Jamey,
How faster a Stonemaier Champion have the order fulfilled?
I’m asking because I need to receive the Wine Crate in Italy before July, 1st. Do you think it will be feasible, considering the release details you shared?

    1. All Champion orders are shipped first, followed by all non-Champion orders. Spiral Galaxy is pretty fast, so I think your order would ship from the UK by mid-June at the very latest, nearly guaranteeing it will arrive by July 1 unless there’s a rare customs issue.

  41. Hi Jamie.
Do you know if partners for foreign language editions will open preorders at the same time as Stonemaier?

    1. It’s up to each partner, so please contact the partner from whom you’re interested in purchasing the foreign language edition.

  42. As someone who doesn’t yet own any of the Viticulture games or expansions will there be the option to buy a full wine crate and avoid the need to order (and have shipped) all the individual elements.

    1. The two new products we’re offering are:

      1. The Wine Crate with Viticulture World inside
      2. Viticulture World by itself

During the preorder, we will also offer Viticulture and the other expansions on sale so you can pick and choose what you want; they will all ship together in June with the Wine Crate or Viticulture World.

      1. I’m 99.9% sure you already thought of this but you might want to make a new version of the clear chart of what to buy if you want everything. On my end all that is missing is the crate so I’m good.

        1. I can try to do that, though I haven’t edited that chart in a long time. Where are you seeing it?

  43. Apologies if this was answered (I looked but did not see it) – when you say the Wine Crate includes a copy of the cooperative expansion, is that an unboxed copy? Or is it a fully independent Viticulture World game that is packaged with the Wine Crate? I’d like to get the Wine Crate, but I also enjoy having the separate game boxes. Thanks!

    1. Correct, there’s no need for the Viticulture World box if you have the Wine Crate, so you get everything from Viticulture World (including the insert) except the box if you buy the Wine Crate.

  44. Good god I can’t wait for this. You are an amazing creator and an amazing person. Sorry for all the trouble you’ve had recently with the Viticulture World expansion. You’ve handled yourself with dignity, grace and humility. I will forever be a Stonemaier and a Stegmaier fan. I’m 1/2 way to getting all the games you’ve put out. Every other game present and future has to wait till I’ve completed my Stonemaier collection.
Keep up the great work Jamie

  45. Is the numbering on the box supposed to mimic the DOC/DOCG labels on wine? That would be super clever!

  46. Relatively new to Viticulture and I do own both the base and Tuscany (both EE). I’m loving the idea of the wine crate. Looking at the pictures I see the screen printed meeples in the tray with 6 spots. Tuscany as the two special workers, but these have ties, mustaches, etc. Which expansion are these from?

    1. Ryan: Those are from the original Tuscany that was on Kickstarter in 2014. We later realized (for Tuscany Essential) that each special worker ability didn’t need its own meeple, as players only ever use 2 special workers at most.

      1. Thanks for clarifying what those are. Because I only have EE/Tuscany, I placed the glass beads in the “original kickstarter (exclusives? eww.) components tray on the left, and the combined World+Viticulture red/blue cards in that same tray on the right.

Then I split the coins up in the six-compartment long tray as 5/2/1/1/2/5, more or less leaving the original Really Weird Rounded Card Well next to the mini cards empty (dropped the grapes and temporary workers in a bag there).

    1. There are 3 compartments for cards in the bottom level and several more in the top-layer tray.

  47. Is that bottom layer of card organizer going to be able to fit all the visitor cards from the base game, Moor Visitors, and Rhine Valley?

  48. I have more restricted storage for boardgames and most of it is not as deep as a kallax so while viticulture fits perfectly standing up on its narrow end this looks like it may be too big for my narrow shelves unless I find somewhere else to store it but that might be out of the way sadly!
Will you show size comparisions to the winde crate, viticulture AND the viticulture world box please at some point so I can try and work out which will be better for my storage constraints? (getting the wine crate a\nd adjusting storage or whether just to get the expansion seperate)

    1. Katie: This is actually the same height as the Viticulture box. I’ve added a photo that shows the Wine Crate vertical (as it would be on a shelf) next to the Viticulture and Viticulture World box.

  49. As always, production quality looks great. Excellent idea to create the “Wine Crate”. You can count me in.

  50. How fast will we need to be to have a chance to order one of these? I was too slow for the scythe frisbee golf disc and since I don’t check my email often (flip phone for the win!) I’m afraid I’ll miss out on the order notification I just subscribed to. Will there be multiple print runs if I’m too slow and miss the first? I’d like to get the crate and expansion together!

    1. We’re aiming for early June. We’ll always make more of any product if it sells out, but just make a note on your calendar to check on June 1 and June 8–the odds are good it’ll be one of those days. :)

  51. Will this fit the Tuscany expansion as well? I have both the standard Viticulture Base game and the separate Tuscany expansion. Excited for the cooperative expansion to put a new spin on things. Wondering if it makes sense for me to go with the wine crate or just the base Viticulture World expansion.

    1. The Wine Crate will fit all of Viticulture and its expansions, including Viticulture World and Tuscany.

  52. Will there be a Hub for Europe? I see the partner Matagot in france, but only nearest hub is UK which is not part of the EU.

    Best Regards
    Tom Wendler

    1. Spiral Galaxy in the UK is our hub in Europe, and they know how to ship to the EU. It’s really the same as it ever was: You have to pay VAT just like any online purchase, and there are no customs fees.

    1. All Viticulture products are available on our webstore (and will soon be joined by Viticulture World), so you can buy anything and everything you’re interested in. All Viticulture products will be on sale during the preorder period, and you’ll receive an additional 20% discount if you’re a Stonemaier Champion.

  53. Hello Jamey,

Viticulture is the game that made my fall in love with board gaming. It is just perfect and this new expansion looks like a great idea.

This wine crate is also a crazy good idea! :-)

But there is a but. My first language is French. I own the Essentiel edition in French of both Viticulture and Tuscany. I will obviously wait for the French version of Viticulture World. How long after the English version should it be made available (in Canada) by Matagot?

Will the wine crate be available by then? Should I order the wine crate from your website in June and wait for the retail French version of Viticulture World?

Can you help me with the timing of my purchases?

Huge thanks in any case! The world is crazy these days and you make it more bearable with your games and ideas!

    Ben

    1. Thanks Benoit! I think you’ll need to talk to Matagot about their specific plan–each partner is different.

  54. Would you be able to share a side by side picture of the wine crate and the Viticulture EE box for size comparison?

  55. Will the crate + expansion be available in other languages (ex: Matagot offer both) or do we have to buy them separately ? (so, the French version from Matagot and the crate from Stonemaeir when it is available in 2023 or so)

    1. Many of our localization partners ordered Wine Crates, so feel free to check with yours to see if they’re offering it. :)
