The Contractor is a very powerful card. It lets you do three things at once, two of which are particularly useful in the early-to-mid game. It’s one of those cards that is only kept in check by the fact that you have to fulfill all of the requirements on the card–if you don’t have a vine to plant or a structure to build, you can’t play it.
Cards like the Contractor actually play an integral role in the game not just for the bonus they offer the person who plays the visitor card, but also the other players who now have opportunities to build a structure or plant a vine that they may not have otherwise. The visitor cards open up possibilities for other players while benefiting the person who plays them. They’re a lot of fun to play, and I can’t wait for you to get your hands on them!

Why is mine different? Mine says gain 1 point instead of lira.
This is the original contractor (from 2012); we changed it for the essential edition.
Does the structure still cost? Other cards specify “at regular cost” or “2L less”.
Is this for the contractor card? It specifies “at its regular cost”. If it’s a different card, let me know the exact text on the card (but unless it specifically says it’s free or discounted, you must pay to build it).
