Today I’d like to highlight several BIPOC* content creators who are doing great things in the tabletop game community. I’ve also updated the progress report for the Stonemaier Games Statement and Declaration of Action.
Jessica Pierce is an amazing artist whose work is featured in the game Boss Battle, which has less than an hour remaining on Kickstarter (hopefully there’s a pledge manager for those of you who find this after the project ends).
GalacticKodiak is a Twitch streamer who plays video games, discusses board game design, and more.
Pe Metawe Games, run by David Plamondon and Jayde Gravel, is a professional game mastering service for role-playing games.
Roberto Lopez runs Shear Boardom, a brand-new YouTube channel focusing on interviews and discussions about board games. I had the pleasure of joining Roberto for his first YouTube episode, though he’s been creating content on Instagram for a while.
Joe Slack is hosting a Board Game Design Virtual Summit from September 14-20, which features creators like Eric Slauson, Nalin Chuapetcharasopon, Victoria Cana, and Sen-Foong Lim.
Jonah and Shantelle are an amazing part of the Tantrum House team.
Matt DeMateo is doing great things at the Newlife Center, a non-profit that works with 5,000 BIPOC youth in Chicago. We donated some games to them:
I really like some of the recent videos Tim Chuon has made, as they focus on helping other content creators make better videos, take better photos, etc.
Last, Dan King (TheGameBoyGeek) himself is not a BIPOC creator, but I wanted to publicly appreciate the time he’s spent recently advising several of the BIPOC creators to whom we’ve provided recording equipment. Even during a very busy time for Dan, he’s spent hours helping these creators with lighting, sound, recording, software, etc–I really appreciate his generosity.
Thanks to all of these creators and organizations for their contributions to the gaming community!
