My Little Scythe is a competitive, family-friendly game in which each player controls 2 animal miniatures embarking upon an adventure in the Kingdom of Pomme.

In an effort to be the first to earn 4 trophies from 8 possible categories, players take turns choosing to Move, Seek, or Make. These actions will allow players to increase their friendship and pies, power up their actions using upgrade tiles, complete quests, learn magic spells, discover precious resources through an innovative dice mechanism, deliver gems and apples to Castle Everfree, and perhaps even engage in a pie fight.

Some of My Little Scythe’s mechanisms are inspired by the bestselling game, Scythe. It caught the eye of Stonemaier Games as a fan-created print-and-play game in 2017 (it went on to win the BoardGameGeek 2017 award for best print-and-play game).

  1. Hi, I got my copy in the mail yesterday. It had three female halves of the combat dial snap. Should there have been at least two male halves as well? Thanks for making great games.

  2. Hello and thank you for this gem of a game. My boys are loving it and I wondered if there were any supporting resources they could have some more fun with – specifically colouring in and/or how to draw sheets of the characters. I couldn’t spot any so thought I’d mention it in the hopes of being directed to some if I’ve been a bit blind or to plant the idea future consideration if no such thing exists.

    1. Thanks Alan! We do include a painting guide for the characters in the box–you could use that to paint the miniatures (or as inspiration for some fun illustrations).

  3. Hi. I just played this with my daughter and we also have the expansion I was trying to put the expansion in the main box and I noticed the two new animal kingdoms had no heart or pie tokens or pawns for the game mat. Is that how it’s supposed to be? Thanks!

      1. Wow! Thank you for the quick response. I completely thought it was me misunderstanding. I really appreciate the clarification! Happy Holidays.

  4. Hello, just curious if we can expect more copies to eventually be available on the store? Thanks!

    1. We should have more in about a month. If you sign up for a back-in-stock notification on our webstore, we’ll let you know when they arrive.

  5. Hi,

I was wondering, what are the miniatures made out of? I can’t find this information anywhere

    Thank you very much

  6. Hello! We just bought the Pie in the Sky expansion and there doesn’t seem to be a task, pie or friendship token for the new Characters, are they separate or can we buy replacement parts on you site?

  7. This game looks amazing, but my daughter (7 years) dont understand/read english. Do you know if a Dutch version is going to be released?

      1. My family and I are Dutch. Is there any way we can further talk about potentially becoming partners for creating a Dutch version of My Little Scythe? I love the original game, by the way! I would love to get My Little Scythe for my Niece when she is old enough.

    1. I have been playing this game with my dutch girls (6 and up) for years, I just read out their options on the quest cards, in the beginning we skipped the special abilities (because they are supposed to remain secret).

  8. Whenever My Little Scythe Expansion become available for pre-order, will we be able to order the Base Game with the expansion as Bundle? I see right now, the Base Game + 17 Figures ($40 + $13.99) I assume it will be same as Base Game + Expansion ($40 + whatever the expansion cost)?

    1. We’ll definitely make it easy for you to add both products to your cart, though I don’t know if we’ll offer a discount on either the core game or the expansion.

  9. My husband loves cartoons and adorable things (he was a brony back in the day too). We ended up grabbing this at a con because we were too brain-tired to get into Scythe and thought this would be an amusing, easy game that is cute.

We still haven’t played Scythe, own this game – and we have no children. Mostly because my husband just loves the artwork in the game and he said we need more “brain dead games” on our shelves.

We will play big kid Scythe – but kudos to creating a game aimed at kids that adults can enjoy too!

    1. I should clarify – he says brain dead because it doesn’t require a ton of heavy thinking – not because the game is dumb. Just a few choices to make and simple mechanics.

  10. My family just played for the first time! What a joy! We needed some laughter and family time and this was perfect! Can’t wait for the expansion!

    1. I don’t think so–it’s good, hard plastic, but just plastic. Are miniatures typically primed?

  11. My whole family loves this game! Easy to learn, fun to play, quality pieces, and adorable art. Just a great, game all around.

My daughter would like me to request that when you add expansion characters you make some rabbits. She’s absolutely obsessed with rabbits.

    1. Please thank her for the suggestion! I must admit that the expansion doesn’t have rabbits, but the creatures we’re including have similarly shaped ears. :)

  12. This game is fantastic! My son is always asking to play and he loves it! My one question is that somewhere along the line we lost the friendship tracker for the Boar faction. Is there any way to order a replacement? Willing to buy the entire set (trophies, pie tracker and friendship tracker) if needed.

    1. Thanks Alex! Just fill out the replacement parts form (link is noted on the last page of the rulebook) and we’ll send you a replacement token.

  13. Finally picked up this game, and gotta say we love it! Very easy to pick up and get everyone playing. Can’t wait for some expansions!

  14. Great game! My (almost 5 but still 4 year old) got it down in the first game and proceeded to win, no kidding! Needless to say he loves the game and asks to play often! Look forward to any expansions and maybe playing the big kid Scythe with him at some point.

  15. THANK YOU ! just bought the italian version of the game! It’s Wonderful, the art is amazing and the miniatures are really beautiful. The rules! What can i say? This is literally A Little Scythe! Thanks for the good work. Live Long And Prosper

  16. Hello! I want to play this with my kids. Is it necessary that they can read English or is it possible to play with a little help? Because they can’t read or understand any Englisch (yet).

    1. Roel: Yes, as long as you have 1 English speaker at the table, you’ll be fine. There is one “secret” element (personality cards), but each player only has one of them, and they can be played openly.

  17. Hello! I want to order this game from Germany (Amazon), but I want English version. Does German version exists or all of them are English?

  18. I played it with my kids and my sister today. Lots of fun. Only problem was that we had trouble with the colors on the dice. I am color blind, so I didn’t even try, but my sister had to determine the colors by lifting the dice up and looking at the other sides to eliminate.

    1. Yeah, we tried to make them as colorblind friendly and low-lighting friendly as possible, but some are still more difficult to distinguish than others.

  19. The tool in the logo looks like a sickle, not a scythe to me. Or are you saying that a little scythe is a sickle? :-)

  20. Looking to get things prepared for when my pre-order arrives. Can you please let me know sleeve sizes and counts? Thank you!

    1. Jason: Sure, I’ve updated the page with this information. My Little Scythe has 71 cards at the 57x87mm size.

  21. I know you cannot speak for everyone, but why don’t we see more publishers get behind their games and develop them the way you do? Seems like all too often it’s print it and forget it! Yet the industry is still growing at a rapid pace.

At some point we have to reach equilibrium, where the amount of games going in and the amount of games not selling will start to equal out. That may be a ways off in the sunset but when will we start to see acquisitions and mergers on a large scale?

I just keep thinking there cannot be enough room in the marketplace for all the publishers!

    1. “Why don’t we see more publishers get behind their games and develop them the way you do?”

While I’m sure that happens from time to time, even if a publisher gets a game submission and doesn’t develop it at all, they still spend a lot of time on the art, graphic design, project management, logistics, marketing, etc. So I think it’s more a case of how selective publishers are about the games they publish. Some publishers release dozens of new games each year, hoping that a few of them will catch on. Others really focus on a few specific games and put all of their efforts into those games.

We’ve seen some mergers and acquisitions over the last few years, but with Kickstarter and small-batch manufacturing, there’s really no barrier to entry for new publishers. That leads to some exciting new companies and projects, as well as some duds. As for the room in the marketplace, I think you’re right that there’s a saturation point.

    1. Most likely in German and French, but I’m not sure about English (Stonemaier Games won’t be at Essen).

  22. Excited to see this! I’ve tried playing Scythe with my 8-year-old son, and while he absolutely loves the world setting and mech figures, he has a lot of trouble juggling the larger ruleset in his head and maintaining his attention span throughout an entire complete game. This new version looks like it trims the game mechanics and play time to be more accessible to his age, which is great! Also, while the new world setting appears to be “not as cool” (my son’s exact words) as Scythe, I really appreciate the gender-neutral appeal of the characters and concepts. I think my son will still love this, once he has a chance to apply his active imagination to the new characters and make them his own. And if all else fails, maybe we’ll just swap out the creature minis for the Scythe mechs!

  23. After the initial print run, will it be possible to purchase a separate set of miniatures for painting. I’d try it on the ones that come with it, but I’ve never done it before and would like to give it a go.

    1. Yes, we typically sell miniatures ala carte after we’ve dealt with the initial batch of replacement parts requests.

  24. Hey Jamey,

I just contacted Feuerland Spiele, who did the german version of Scythe. They said they are not doing the german “My little Scythe”. Will another company be doing that, or will there be no german version?

      1. Good to know. It would be even better to know, which one it will be. My bet is on either Schwerkraft or Asmodee.

        1. It’s not really my information to share at this point–I don’t want to step on the toes of our partners. When they’re ready to announce it, they will. :)

          1. OK, thanks. We will have to wait for that, then.
Can you maybe tell them to contact me at holger@teilzeithelden.de, so that we can have a news article about the release ready once it is announced? It is hard to contact them myself if I don’t know who to contact ;)

          2. Holger: I checked with the German publisher, and they said it is fine to reveal that Spieleschmiede is the German publisher of My Little Scythe.

  25. Really looking forward to play it with my son! There will be an italian localization?

  26. Any idea when retail preorders will be up? IN know you can’t control stores but presumably they’ll be sorting stock with you for ordering nowish. Unfortunately I can’t justify the $44 tax and shipping bringing the game up to $94 approx £70 at the moment but I so want to support this and my boy was so excited when he saw it!

    1. It should be any time now–distributors have the information, so it’s just a matter of them getting it into their systems for retailers to use.

    1. Currently there isn’t a Dutch version, but we do offer a Dutch translation of the rules online.

          1. I hope this will happen. I’d love to play this with my two boys. Is there much in-game text?

  27. Thank you to Jamey and everyone else who made this a reality. A year ago all I wanted to do was to do SOMETHING I love for SOMEONE I love. I think whenever we do that, great and unexpected things can happen. We hope you enjoy the game. If you have any stories to share or any questions about the game, we’re here for you.

  28. I would like to order this, however the retail stores are not set up for pre-orders. Can anyone here assist?

    1. Stephen: Stores just learned about the game today, so it might take a day or so before they get it in their systems.

  29. Congratulations. I can see it being a huge hit.

I went to pre-order My Little Scythe, and the Champion discount is fantastic. I was prepared to pay $20 shipping to Ireland plus customs tax, but Shoppify have shipping at $44. The shipping costs more than the game. I will just have wait for it to be shipped from within the EU. Any one in the U.S. would be insane not to pre-order this now :) It’s on the top of my must buy list.

    1. Yeah, shipping a heavier product like this from St. Louis to anywhere international is expensive–I’m sorry about that. But your local retailers should be able to carry it.

      1. I understand. I will contact the local stores and inform them of the next hit game their customers will be wanting ;)

      2. Can I just do St. Louis pickup since I’m already there? :) I suppose I could do Gencon pickup too….

        1. Josh: Sure, we could work that out, though we don’t have a good way to integrate that into our order system. We might end up shipping it to you by mistake. :)

  30. Really cool! … funny, I saw the video when Tom Vassel said he would eat a shoe! Maybe you could be nice and let him puy BBQ sace on it!.

  31. I’m excited! My children will love it, I’m sure. Jamey, is there still room for an expansion in the insert?

    1. Tom Vasel said at Dice Tower Con last year that he’d “eat a shoe” if My Little Scythe was ever published.

      1. I know I am late to this party, but my 6 year old daughter can play this game well, she only needs help reading the encounter cards. I imagine the same would be the case for a 5 year old.

    1. Exactly what I’m looking to find out – be good to have this along side 1-6 players | 45-60 minutes | $50 MSRP
