April Fools Week: Cat Cards, Cat Shirts, Cat Charities, Strategy Cats, and Cat Coworkers

Happy April Fools Week! April 1 is on a weekend this year, so we decided to start the silliness early. Yesterday we continued a tradition of releasing silly-but-real products on our webstore (they’re already starting to ship), with 10% of all webstore proceeds through Saturday going to several charities.

As you can tell by the subject line, the theme of this year’s April Fools celebration is cats! We’ve prepared for around 6 months for this, as real products take time to design and produce.

First we have a cat-eared version of the Stonemaier Games logo on a fitted, soft Bella Canvas t-shirt. This is a logo that our web designer created a few years ago for our website, and we liked it so much that we put it on a dark green t-shirt.

In addition to the shirt, we have 3 new Rolling Realms promos, two of which are cat-themed. There’s a realm based on one of my favorite games, The Isle of Cats, as well as a realm quite simply based on my cats, Biddy & Walter. Last, there is a Minigolf-themed realm based on the acclaimed Automa solo campaign game-within-a-game from the Rolling Realms core box.

We’re donating 10% of webstore proceeds (all products, not just April Fools products) through April 1 to a few cat-related charities: The Humane Society of Missouri (where I adopted Biddy 16 years ago), Kauai Community Cat Project, and Panthera). [Update: The total donation was $5,451, with $1,817 going to each of these organizations.]

To add to the fun, my coworkers and key contractors/partners have transformed into our favorite animals to finish off the work week. I’m sure you see maximum productivity and creativity when you view us this way. (Note that some of these animals are linked to other people at Stonemaier, as not everyone has pets right now.)

Finally, the one thing I saved for April 1 is a top 10 video of photos submitted by Stonemaier Ambassadors of their pets appearing to strategize over tabletop games. Some really adorable (and surprising) photos were submitted, and the video is available here:

I know it’s too soon to tell, but let me know what your favorite April Fools products/announcements are in the comments below! The products I mentioned in this post can be found at the following links:

  1. Rolling Realms
    The Isle of Cats promo

Are multiple pairs of the same number allowed?

    For example:
Could I surround the #1 treasure map with six 1s and score 3 pairs of 1s?

    1. Good question! You can only score once per treasure map, so those six 1s would only give you 2 stars.

  2. Absolutely brilliant Jamey, I love it all , especially the Walter & Biddy card pack . What a great way to immortalise those pals of yours which I’m sure are simply “family” . :-)

  3. The green/blue dice in that picture with the cards looked like fuzzy dice at a glance and I got excited 😅

  4. Oh, man! Is there an option to pickup, instead of shipping?
$10 shipping is a bit much for getting a shirt down to the next neighborhood… ;)

    1. Since we’re working with Miniature Market for fulfillment now, the pickup option is coming soon, but it’s not ready yet.
