Marketing the Eclipse – Stonemaier Games

Marketing the Eclipse

Today marks the last solar eclipse visible in the continental US until 2044, and aside from the excitement here in the midwest, I’ve been delighted by the marketing techniques I’ve seen from various local (and regional/national) businesses.

Whenever there’s a cultural or natural phenomenon, some businesses plan ahead to offer special products or services that can enhance the experience for those involved. Stonemaier Games isn’t doing anything for the elipse, but it could have been an opportunity for a special version of a game or a promo.

The examples below are all food related, but there are others as well–feel free to share in the comments!

Have you seen any clever products or promotions related to the eclipse (or other rare phenomena)?

  1. I was in Mazatlan in Mexico for the eclipse (my 10th). Was a bit surprised not to see any eclipse-related art or crafts. There were some T shirts but I didn’t notice anything else, despite an extensive buildup and eclipse chasers congregating there from around the world.

Some countries do special eclipse stamps which I think is a great idea.

Not eclipse merchandise, but knowing you like cats, thought you’d like this reel: https://www.facebook.com/reel/300258666497383/
