Written & Podcast Reviews
- Board Game Quest (“Do you want powers now or points later? It’s those moments when the game really shines.”)
- Gnarly Carley Gaming (“As a very intuitive combo builder with slight asymmetry, an easy teach, and six player friendliness, my first impression was that it is a golden gateway-friendly game, welcoming for new folks but with heft and variety enough for an old gamer nerd to consistently enjoy.”
- That’s What Jenni Said (“…the game feels incredibly personal after you’ve read the books. I felt connected to the characters as they were revealed from the deck because of my experience reading the series. I was delighted to have the Sevro card in my hand, giddy to be given the House of Mars player role, and I flushed with anger when the Jackal card appeared on the board. I spent a lot of the game explaining the highlights of each character to my friends as new cards were laid down. Pretty sure I had to fight back tears when Eo’s card came up. In one of our games, my friend Malinda played Apollo and probably didn’t understand why I worked so tirelessly to thwart her efforts.”)
- The Meeple Street (“It is the perfect balance of accessibility, subtle theme and engaging mechanics that will draw in both lovers of board games and the novel series.”)
- Board Game Immersion (“I really enjoy playing Red Rising solo, as it’s a quick play that still feels like a legit game with another player.”)
- The Tabletop Family (and TikTok; “I have no hesitation in recommending [Red Rising] to fans of the novels. While it is not necessary to have read the novels to enjoy playing the game, you’ll without a doubt appreciate the nods to the story woven into the theming and design.”)
- There Will Be Games (“We quickly made it over the initial hurtles, such as the lack of familiarity with the Red Rising series, to really delight in the game.”)

For someone who hasn’t finished the book series yet, are there any story spoilers by playing the game?
Nope! I wanted to invite people into the book series through the game, so we focused the game on the characters, not plot points or spoilers.
True but, I love how once you have read the books the abilities and combos are true to the story ;)
Hello, Jamey! So much love to send your way this afternoon! First, Wingspan + European + Oceania were totally my gateway into this amazing world of board gaming. Thank you so much for publishing this game from the incredibly talented crew of Elizabeth Hargrave, Natalia Rojas, Ana Maria Martinez Jaramillo, and Beth Sobel! Such a fun and gorgeous game and expansions! Very much looking forward to the next four! Secondly, I am so excited for the pre-order of Red Rising on March 3rd! You, and your wonderfully creative team of Alexander Schmidt, Jacqui Davis, Miles Bensky, and Justin Wong have created something that looks to be incredible! What specifically brought me here to comment today is the curation of individuals that you brought together to review this! I just recently started watching board game reviews to expand my knowledge of the art. I have been most impressed and have tremendously enjoyed your content, along with ThinkerThemer, Watch It Played, and Before You Play! I was super stoked to see that they had all been invited to do a play through and/or review of Red Rising! I also wanted to say thanks for introducing me to Black Board Gaming! So enjoyable to watch them too. I also love that you included Sam over at Thoughts on Tomes! It was really cool to see someone outside of board gaming content do such an excellent review! Her enthusiasm and love of the content was captivating! I can tell that she was extremely grateful for the opportunity! All of the other channels I have not mentioned were great as well! The ones I mentioned just really stood out to me! All this to say, thank you so much for inviting such a delightful group of people to participate in the review of Red Rising. It just felt like a really delightful community feast in this time when we are unable to gather together! Please forgive the long ramble, I just wanted to share my gratitude for this experience and let you know how much I am looking forward to March 3rd! Most Sincerely and Very Respectfully, Treasure (drawdeepwater)
Thanks so much for your enthusiasm! I appreciate you checking out the variety of reviews that went live today–I love introducing people to reviewers I adore. :)
So stoked that your dream of making Red Rising come to life in a board game has finally happened after so many years! Congratulations and thanks so much for making this happen, Jamey! Yes, I adore these reviewers as well now too! Also, I just wanted to say thanks for your positivity and kindness in your videos. Your smile throughout your content just showcases your passion in a lovely way and is so uplifting!
Hey there i see now you give a lot of review examples in the USA out. Do you do this also to german bloggers. I’m a real small one just in the beginning with my Instagram blog starlord1905 and to get this one first would be awesome. Understand I don’t want to get it for free but maybe a little discount would be cool. Hope this is possible 😁 greets from Germany. Any chance to do this
We send our games to reviewers around the world: https://stonemaiergames.com/our-current-approach-to-board-game-reviewers-and-content-creators-2021/
Please note that we highly recommend that reviewers post in a permanently discoverable place. Your hard work deserves more than a fleeting Instagram post! :)
You really should consider Jugando con Ketty channel (www.jck.cl; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDknd-PnmunmWcc0yJv5k0w) for your reviews … It is an excellent option for your Spanish-speaking audience and is the oldest boardgame channel in Spanish
Thanks! She is indeed on our overall reviewer list.
